Carbon Materials × Intercalation
Our laboratory focuses on graphite intercalation compounds (GICs) and conducts research on the intercalation of carbon materials such as graphite and graphene.
By intercalating carbon materials, their properties can be modified and their functions enhanced.
Building on our experience with carbon materials, we are also exploring intercalation into new two-dimensional materials.

The main research topics being pursued in our laboratory include:
・Development of air-stable, highly conductive graphite intercalation compounds
・Exploration of Na and Mg intercalation
・Intercalation into multilayer graphene
・Intercalation into two-dimensional materials
・Compilation of the “color” of graphite intercalation compounds
・Development of graphite intercalation compounds with high thermoelectric performance
...and more.

Equipment
→ More
Our equipment is divided into two categories: those used for sample synthesis and those used for sample analysis.
For synthesis, essential tools include a glove box, vacuum line, and electric furnace.
For analysis, key instruments include an X-ray diffractometer, Raman spectrometer, and an electrical conductivity measurement system.
